Balblair distillery is a Scotch whisky distillery located in Edderton, Scotland. It was founded in 1790 and is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland. Balblair produced its first spirit in 1790 and was initially known as "Blair Athol." Over the years, Balblair has undergone several ownership changes and modernization to keep up with the changing times. In the 1990s, the distillery was bought by Inver House Distillers, who invested in modernizing the facilities and increasing production. Today, Balblair is known for its premium single-malt whiskies and is highly regarded by whisky connoisseurs worldwide.

Balblair Distillery mainly produces single-malt Scotch whisky. However, they offer a range of whiskies, including:

Balblair Vintage: a range of vintage single malt Scotch whiskies, each bottled from a single year's distillation.

Balblair Signature: a range of non-vintage single malt Scotch whiskies, each with a distinct flavor profile.

Balblair Limited Edition: rare and limited edition expressions of Balblair's single malt Scotch whisky.

All of Balblair's whiskies are aged in oak casks, with some of the cask types including American bourbon barrels and Spanish sherry butts. The flavor profile of Balblair's whiskies is known for its rich, fruity, and spicy notes, with a balance of sweet and dry flavors.

One interesting story about Balblair Distillery is the tale of its founder, John Ross. John Ross was a farmer and distiller who founded the distillery in 1790. He was known for his strong work ethic and passion for whisky-making. Legend has it that John Ross was once visited by a group of travelers who asked for a dram of his whisky. John Ross was so confident in the quality of his whisky that he offered to bet the travelers a cow against a dram of his whisky that they wouldn't be able to find a better dram in all of Scotland. The travelers took him up on the bet and embarked on a journey to find a better dram, but they never returned to claim the cow. This tale reflects John Ross's belief in the superior quality of his whisky and his commitment to the craft of whisky-making.
