The Aberlour Distillery was founded in 1879 by James Fleming, who purchased the land and built the distillery on it. The distillery is located in the Speyside region of Scotland, which is known for its high-quality whiskies.

In 1898, James Fleming passed away, and the distillery was taken over by Charles Kay, who expanded the production and improved the quality of the whisky. He also built a new malt barn, a new kiln, and a new mill.

During the early 20th century, the distillery was passed through a series of owners, including the partnership of Peter Mackenzie and Alexander Edward, who made significant investments to expand the production capacity.

In 1960, the distillery was sold to the Campbell Distillers, which Pernod Ricard later acquired. Under Pernod Ricard's ownership, the distillery underwent modernization, and its production capacity was expanded.

Today, Aberlour is considered one of Scotland's most well-known and respected whisky distilleries. Its single-malt whiskies are highly sought after by whisky enthusiasts worldwide.

Aberlour Distillery is known for producing a range of high-quality single-malt whiskies. Their core range includes:

Aberlour 18-Year-Old Double Cask Matured: Matured for at least 18 years in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. It has a rich, complex flavor with dark fruit, chocolate, and spice notes.

Aberlour A'bunadh: A cask strength, non-chill filtered whisky, which is a batch release of around 60,000 bottles each time, it's aged for a minimum of 21 years in ex-sherry casks and has a robust, rich flavor with notes of dark fruit, chocolate, and spice.

In addition to these core expressions, Aberlour also releases limited edition and unique edition whiskies from time to time, which are highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts.

One interesting story about Aberlour Distillery is about one of its founders, James Fleming, who was also known as "The Father of Aberlour."
Fleming was a farmer who had the vision to build a distillery in the small village of Aberlour, which was a remote and sparsely populated area at the time. He faced many challenges in establishing the distillery, but he persevered and built a successful distillery.

Fleming was also known for his strong work ethic and commitment to producing high-quality whisky. He was said to have supervised every aspect of the distillation process, from mashing the barley to filling the casks. He was also known for his insistence on using the purest water from the nearby Lour burn, which is still used in the production of Aberlour whisky today.

Additionally, James Fleming was also a philanthropist. He built and supported many social services in the area, like a school, a church, and a hospital. He is remembered as a respected figure in the community, and his legacy lives on through the distillery he founded.
